Best Youtube channels for learning German

I think that Youtube is a great platform for learning languages, but finding the right content can sometimes be challenging. That is why I have created a list of Youtube channels that I think that are the best for learning German.

Rather than just watching the videos, I'm always trying to make sure that I learn the vocabulary and the expressions that are used in the videos, and that is why most of my favorite Youtube channels have videos with subtitles and offer video transcripts.

My criteria for a great Youtube channel for learning German:

  • Should focus on teaching German
  • Should be active with weekly updates
  • Should offer subtitles for beginner level content
  • Should offer subtitles for intermediate level content if people are speaking fast (e.g. Easy German)
  • It is not necessary to have subtitles for intermediate/advanced level content that is spoken clearly and slowly (e.g. Deutsch mit Marija, Sprachheld)
  • It is a big plus if the channel has video transcripts available for videos.
  • It is also a plus if there is a way of following the channel and get updates outside Youtube (e.g. Facebook, Twitter)
